Chelsea Managers Interview

Thibaut Courtois, will he be gone by the end of the transfer window?

"I don't know. But I think I am here just to talk about this match, and the first question was about Courtois. I don't know at this moment. I want to speak with my club. Then, altogether, we'll decide about it."

What positives did you see from the Lyon match?

"I think that we have to work. But we started to work, to work two days ago. But I think, potentially, we can become in two or three months a very good team."

Kepa, have you agreed a deal for him?

"If I don't know anything about Courtois, I don't know anything about Kepa."

Eden Hazard, how keen are you for him to stay at Chelsea?

"I don't see this problem in this moment. I have spoken with Eden two or three times in the last two days. He has spoken of everything. I think this problem, the Hazard problem, is not present now."

Will tomorrow be a busy day with transfers?

"I don't know. Tomorrow I will have a very busy day, but I don't know anything about the market. We have to work in the morning. I have the meeting with the other coaches in the afternoon. I have no time for the transfer market at this moment."

Do you expect some new players coming in?

"I'd like to improve my players, first of all."

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, can he play a part for you this season?

"He's potentially a great player. He has to improve from the tactical point of view. But I think that's not a problem. He's very young. I think he can be a very useful player for us."

Hazard, Kante, Cahill and Giroud, a boost to have them back?

"They arrived yesterday or the day before. It was better for them to play 25 minutes than to have a training session alone only with the physical coach. They have to work, obviously. I'm very happy. I can work with all my players for the first time tomorrow, so we have only three days to prepare for the next match. And the next match will be for us very important. Very, very, very important."

Too soon for them to be in the starting side?

"Yes, I think so. Especially all together."
Could Eden Hazard be your captain for the upcoming player?

"I don't know. We have to discuss about it. I want to speak with all the players. I want to speak with my staff and my club, and at the end, I will decide. But today is my first day with all the players. I think I have to decide when I know better every player."

What is your opinion on Kepa?

"I saw him one year ago [when I was] at Naples, and my first impression was he was a very good goalkeeper. Very young, but very, very good."

Did Sunday being so soon ago affect your preparations?

"The players that worked in an individual programme, so the players that played on Sunday had a different work."
